From a Fear of Flying to Aviation Photography
I’m Marianna Krenarová, an aviation photographer based in Bratislava, Slovakia.
My journey into aviation began in a rather unexpected way. For about two years, I listened to an aviation podcast, and it gradually helped me overcome my fear of flying. At the same time, it sparked a growing curiosity about aviation and everything surrounding it.
Then came my first flight — and I absolutely loved it.
One flight became two, then three… and after that third flight, I think it’s fair to say I became addicted to flying.
I started thinking about how I could get closer to the world of aviation. Then one simple thought came to me:
If I can take good photos with my phone, what could I do with a proper camera?
So I bought my first camera.
My very first attempts at aircraft photography were made from the viewing area at Bratislava airport. Later, I arranged my first official photography opportunity at Aeroclub Partizanske.
That was the beginning of something I never expected.
What started with a love of flying gradually became a love of aviation photography. I started photographing aircraft at the end of June 2026, and what began as a new passion quickly became something I wanted to pursue seriously.
I’m especially drawn to large commercial airliners, but I also love photographing smaller aircraft and club aviation. One of my favourite parts of aviation photography is capturing the details — producing sharp, clean images that show exactly what makes each aircraft interesting.
For me, a great photograph starts with sharpness, detail and careful editing. I want my images to look polished while still capturing the character of the aircraft and the moment.
As my photography developed, it also began opening doors into the aviation community. I was approached with an offer to collaborate with the Slovak National Aeroclub, which I was very happy to accept. I now photograph aircraft and create video content for them, giving me the opportunity to contribute to the aviation community through both photography and video.
Today, I’m building MK Aviation Photography around something I genuinely love doing. My goal is to turn that passion into my profession and create aviation photography for people, organisations and aviation enthusiasts who want their aircraft captured properly.
